With the OVERSPEED, Arpiem once again illustrates its passion for automobiles.
 There are many watches that draw their "inspiration" from the rev counters of sports cars. Arpiem has created its own, going as far as possible in assimilating the watch to the rev counter, giving the OVERSPEED the following original characteristics:
  •  the watch is single hand
  •  Indexes not essential for reading the time have been removed
  •  the dial is not circular but interrupted, like a rev counter.
 The OVERSPEED is equipped with a Premium Miyota 9039 automatic movement, 2 sapphire crystal glasses on the dial and on the back of the watch. Its button is screwed and it is water-resistant to 100 meters (10 ATM). It is offered in a numbered limited series.


< THE CASE of the ARPIEM OVERSPEED is made of 316L stainless steel. Its characteristics are an almost total absence of magnetism which therefore does not disturb the operation of the movement and a very low carbon content (less than 0.35%) which makes it particularly resistant to corrosion and wear. A water resistance of 10 ATM is offered. The watch adjustment button is screwed.

< DLC CASE FINISH: DLC, Diamond Like Carbon, is a material combining the structure of graphite carbon with that of diamond and a variable amount of hydrogen deposited under vacuum in thin layers. Its name refers to the qualities of diamond found in DLC: wear resistance, inalterability and low coefficient of friction. Thanks to these qualities, it is found in the design of drilling tools, engines, in the optical industry and in watchmaking of course. The DLC treatment of the OVERSPEED's black case gives it resistance to shocks and wear far superior to that which would have been obtained with a classic PVD coating.

< THE DIAL: the OVERSPEED is a single-hand watch which must therefore ensure the reading of the time alone. Each hour index is divided into 4 indexes of 15 mins. Each index of 15 mins is divided into 3 indexes of 5 mins.

< THE MOVEMENT: automatic MIYOTA caliber 9039. Mounted on 26 jewels. Frequency = 28,800 Hz.

< SAPPHIRE GLASS: This is the best quality glass available on the market. It is actually an aluminum oxide crystal and not a glass. Even though it is produced synthetically in an industrial way, it has the same chemical composition and physical properties as natural sapphire. Its main virtue is its resistance to scratches. On the MOHS scale graduated from 1 to 10 which evaluates the hardness of minerals, it is classified at 9, only diamond is harder and classified at 10. Most of the minerals constituting our everyday objects are between 4 and 7 on this scale.

< ANTI-REFLECTIVE TREATMENT: The glass is treated with 6 layers of anti-reflective coating which aim to limit the refraction of light on the sapphire crystal for perfect perception of colors and materials (the greater the number of layers applied, the lower the refraction of light).

< CASE BACK: This is equipped with a sapphire crystal revealing the engraved rotor of the automatic movement

The choices are always those of  affordable quality: proven and recognized Swiss or Japanese movements, the use of surgical-grade 316L steel for the cases, crystal-quality sapphire glass with anti-reflection treatment, DLC treatment ( Diamond Like Carbon) for black cases rather than the less resistant PVD treatment, the use of stainless steel deployment buckles for the straps, original and rewarding packaging.
