Par son caractère et son originalité, la nouvelle RD automatique  affiche l’ADN de la marque Arpiem. Elle offre une complication rare, celle d’un cadran rotatif qui permet de décaler le cadran de 60° et de conserver une lecture intuitive de l’heure au volant – ou au guidon – de votre 4 ou 2 roues.
Ce cadran décalé est apparu au milieu du siècle dernier, initialement sur des montres d’aviateurs. Rapidement, il a été proposé pour des modèles destinés aux pilotes automobiles et aux motards, ce décalage de lecture se révélant adapté lorsque le poignet repose sur le volant ou sur la branche du guidon de la moto. Encore aujourd’hui, c’est ainsi que l’on appelle ce type de montre, la « driver’s watch ».
La complication proposée sur la RD permet le verrouillage du cadran sur la position traditionnelle à « 12 heures » (position REST), ou son décalage (position DRIVE) de 60° sur la position « 2 heures ». C’est une caractéristique unique développée par Arpiem.

La MACCHIA rend hommage au plus beau des rallyes automobiles, le Tour de Corse. Autour de son cadran, on retrouve le nom de ses spéciales les plus emblématiques: La Porta, Porto-Piana, ou la tristement célèbre Zerubia, théâtre de l’accident fatal d’Henri Toivonen, le Petit Prince, en 1986. L’index 10 000 à 10h00 vient rappeler que le Tour de Corse était connu comme le « rallye aux 10 000 virages ». La tête de Maure placée à 6h00 achève de lui donner son caractère marqué.

Arpiem watches are revealed in the details of their design: the use of the "triple layer" dial, the presence of a colored button, the discreet engraving of the central button, the elements highlighted on the dials which participate in the story associated with each model.
